TRANSITIONAL YEAR PROGRAMME The Transitional Year Programme (TYP) is a full-time, eight-month access-to-University program. It is intended for adults who do not have the formal qualifications for university admission. Most TYP students have grown up in communities where very few people have access to higher education. It is meant for those who did not have an opportunity to finish high school because of financial problems, family difficulties or other circumstances beyond their control.
Full-time students will take a full slate of courses; a total of 5 full-credit equivalent courses, 3.5 of which are offered by TYP and 1.5 of which is offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto. Students with documented disability can enroll in the part-time program and take 2-3 courses to complete the program over two years.
Some of the courses are offered within the university itself, and include other Undergraduate Students. Students will receive credit for these courses toward his/her degree at the University of Toronto once they complete the TYP year.
In addition to TYP courses, students will choose one of three full-year course options offered by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. These will also provide students with one credit toward his/her degree once the program is completed. These will also provide students with one credit toward his/her degree once the program is completed.
